This policy covers buysellonx.com ("BuySellOn𝕏," "we," "us"), operated by BuySellOnX. Questions: [email protected].

The short version

We use Sign in with X to know who you are. We get your public X profile basics, never your password, messages or followers list.
Listings and their photos are public. We store only an approximate location for each listing, never your exact location.
Messages between buyers and sellers are stored so the conversation works, and we only read them when one is reported or we investigate abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party ad trackers.

1. Information we collect

From X when you sign in. Your X user ID, @handle, display name, profile picture, and the date your X account was created (shown as the month you joined X). We ask X only for read-only access (the users.read and tweet.read permissions, which X requires together to look up your profile). We never read or store your posts. We do not receive your X password, email, phone number, direct messages, or followers list, and we do not post to X for you. We do not keep the access token X gives us after sign-in.

What you post.

Listings: title, description, price, category, condition, photos, and the city or area you list from.
Messages you send to other users through BuySellOn𝕏.
Reports you submit about listings or users, along with the IP address you submitted them from, to help us investigate abuse.
Ads you submit: headline, text, link, image and the ad duration you choose.

Location.

If you allow it, your browser shares your location so we can show nearby listings. We use it to search and to look up your city name, and we do not save it to your account.
You can type a city or ZIP code instead. That search text is sent to our map lookup service (see Section 4).
When you post a listing, we round its location to about half a mile and add a small random offset before saving it. Your exact location is never stored.

Technical information.

Your IP address, which we use briefly to prevent spam and abuse (rate limits).
Basic, privacy-friendly site statistics from Cloudflare Web Analytics, such as page views, country and browser type. It does not use cookies or track you across other sites.
Server logs kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.

2. How we use information

To run the marketplace: show listings near you, publish your listings, deliver messages, and show sponsored ads.
To keep you signed in.
To keep the site safe: prevent spam, enforce the Terms of Service (https://buysellonx.com/terms), review reports, and investigate fraud.
To fix problems and improve the site, using aggregate statistics.
To follow the law and respond to valid legal requests.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and sponsored ads are not targeted to you personally.

3. What other users see

Whatever you share in a message, such as a phone number or meeting place, is shared with that person, and we cannot control what they do with it.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-site advertising.

We use these service providers to run the site:

We may also share information:

When required by law, court order or a valid legal request.
To protect the safety of users or the public, for example reporting a threat or fraud to police.
If BuySellOn𝕏 is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
With your permission.

5. Cookies and browser storage

One sign-in cookie (bsx_session) keeps you logged in for up to 30 days. It is secure, cannot be read by page scripts, and is deleted when you sign out.
Browser storage on your own device remembers your saved items, the location you picked, and chats you start on sample listings. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

6. How long we keep information

Messages	Deleted when you delete the listing, or when both people in a conversation delete it; otherwise for 90 days after the listing expires, or longer if part of an open report. Deleting or archiving a conversation only hides it from your own Messages until both people delete it
Reports (including the reporter's IP address)	1 year, or longer if needed for an ongoing investigation
Ads	2 years after the ad ends, for billing and records (deleted ads keep only an anonymized billing record)
IP addresses for rate limits	Usually less than 24 hours
Hosting and security logs	As set by Cloudflare, typically a few days

We may keep information longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our Terms.

7. Your choices and rights

Things you can do yourself:

Hide your @handle on listings in your profile settings.
Delete any listing or ad from your profile.
Delete your account from your profile (Profile → Delete my account). This deletes your profile, sessions, listings and photos, and conversations on your listings; messages you sent on other people's listings are replaced with "[deleted]"; running or pending ads are cancelled. Ad payment records and reports are kept without your user ID, as described in Section 6.
Block location sharing in your browser and type a city instead.
Sign out to end your session, or remove BuySellOn𝕏 from your X account under X's Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions.

Requests to us. Email [email protected] with your @handle, or send a DM to @RyDawg42, to ask us to:

Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correct information that is wrong.
Delete your account and everything tied to it, if you prefer not to do it from your profile.

We will confirm the request comes from the account owner and answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Depending on where you live, including Oregon, California and other US states with privacy laws, you may have more rights, such as appealing a decision we make about your request. To appeal, reply to our response with "Appeal" in the subject line. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in those categories.

8. Security, children, changes and contact

Security. All traffic uses HTTPS, sign-in cookies are signed and protected, and only we can access the database. No system is perfectly secure, so never share passwords or financial information in listings or messages.

Children. BuySellOn𝕏 is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we will delete it.

Users outside the US. BuySellOn𝕏 is run from the United States, and information is processed on Cloudflare's global network.

Changes. If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date, and for important changes we will show a notice on the site.
